About the homeowner: Mrs. Randolph’s husband died 16 years ago and her health is not good. She walks with a cane when the arthritis in her back is bad and she has hernias. Three years ago, she had a fire in the house. Mrs. Randolph has lived in her house for thirty-five years and keeps it very clean. She heard about our program on TV and then a friend told her about it, too. Mrs. Randolph’s children lack the skills to do the repairs and some of them work two jobs themselves.

Their greatest concern: Mrs. Randolph wants help in her bathroom and she would like tile in the basement. She also wants to get rid of the old, dirty carpet in the bedrooms and have the hardwood floors cleaned.

What we found:.The sump pump leaks and the upstairs bath leaks into the downstairs storage room. Water leaks around the shower curtain upstairs and the grout is cracked. The tub drain is clogged. Ceiling nails will be replaced where they are needed. The roof is falling off the storage shed.
